There's no place like home
The brief
We decided early on in the project that the Ego Interactive website itself was not going to be a display of all of our skills - rather, we wanted to create an elegant and simple framework which would not drown out our client work, but would enable our output to shine unencumbered and give a diverse flavour to our online presence.
Design
Bold, stylish fonts, pared-down graphics and simple iconography was the order of the day here. The attention to detail which dictates our work is still evident, but in the subtle nuances of a well-defined selection of fonts, a detailed and pixel-perfect icon family that follow a strict set of design rules and the clean, spacious layout.
We love the open, bold style of the site which really gives complete room for our client work to breathe. Just what the doctor ordered!
Technical
Ego's website (that's this one) is built on a Sitecore 6 platform, with all that brings (C#, .Net 3.5, SQL Server and XSLT).
It was built in Visual Studio 2008 and Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, along with Photoshop and Flash.
We think it works pretty well.
All the blood, sweat, tears, storyboards, meetings, PSDs, guides, ruler measurements, revisions, technical specifications, masks, image optimisation, pixel shunting, vector manipulation, 1600% zooms, marquee selections, dragged anchor points, colour sampling, folder nesting, variable declaration, function calling, swf exporting and subsequent months of counselling have finally paid off with our rather splendid website.
